When activated (via stop/start button or ignition key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, engaging the starter drive (Bendix gear) with the engine's flywheel. The motor turns the engine to initiate combustion. Once running, the mechanism disengages the starter from the flywheel as the engine becomes self-sustaining.
