When activated (via stop/start button or ignition key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid, which transfers power from the battery to the starter motor. This activates the starter drive (Bendix gear system), engaging the engine's flywheel.
The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol/diesel vehicles. Once the engine runs independently, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel.
