Manual starters are simple, user-operated devices that control equipment activation through a button or rotary knob. These starters feature mechanical linkages that open or close contacts to start or stop motors.

Important Note: Manual starters don't break control circuits during power loss, which may cause automatic motor restart when power returns - a critical safety consideration for some applications.

When activated (via stop/start button or ignition key), an electrical signal triggers the starter solenoid, which channels battery power to the starter motor. This activates the starter drive (Bendix gear system), engaging the engine's flywheel to crank the engine and initiate combustion.

Once the engine runs independently, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel, as ongoing electrical assistance is no longer required.
