Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or ignition key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, which activates the starter drive (Bendix gear). The gear engages the flywheel, cranking the engine to begin combustion in petrol and diesel engines.
Once the engine runs independently, the starter motor disengages from the flywheel as the electrical spark is no longer needed.
