Manual starters are user-operated devices designed for simple and straightforward operation without requiring expert intervention. These starters feature a button or rotary knob that controls the connected equipment's power state through mechanical linkages.
- Safe and economical operation
- Compact design suitable for diverse applications
- Built-in overload protection for motor safety
- Available with various enclosure options
- Cost-effective initial investment
Note: Manual starters don't break control circuits during power loss, which may cause automatic motor restart when power returns. This characteristic requires careful consideration in certain applications.
The starting process begins when the driver activates the ignition system. An electrical signal travels to the starter solenoid, which then engages the vehicle's battery to power the starter motor.
The starter motor activates the starter drive (Bendix gear system), which connects with the engine's flywheel. As the starter motor turns, it cranks the engine to initiate the combustion process in both petrol and diesel vehicles.
Once the engine is running independently, the starter mechanism automatically disengages from the flywheel as the engine no longer requires the initial electrical spark.
