Manual starters are simple, user-friendly devices operated manually without requiring expert intervention. They feature a button or rotary knob that controls the opening and closing of contacts to start or stop connected equipment.
Important Note: Manual starters don't break the control circuit during power loss, which means motors may restart automatically when power is restored - a critical safety consideration for some applications.
- Safe and economical operation
- Compact size suitable for diverse applications
- Built-in overload protection for motor safety
- Available in various enclosure options
- Low initial cost compared to other starter types
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component channels power from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor.
The electrical current activates both the starter motor and the starter drive (Bendix gear system), which engages the vehicle's flywheel. As the starter motor turns, it cranks the engine to initiate the combustion process in petrol and diesel vehicles.
Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark to maintain operation.
