Manual starters are simple, user-friendly devices operated manually without requiring expert intervention. They feature a button or rotary knob that controls the connected equipment through mechanical linkages that open or close contacts to start or stop the motor.
Important Safety Note: Manual starters do not break the control circuit during power loss, which means the motor could restart automatically when power is restored. This may pose safety concerns in certain applications.
- Safe and economical operation
- Compact size suitable for diverse applications
- Built-in overload protection for motor safety
- Available with various enclosure options
- Low initial cost compared to other starter types
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor, which then engages the starter drive (Bendix gear system) with the vehicle's flywheel.
The starter motor turns the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark to maintain operation.
