Manual Starters Overview
Manual starters are simple, user-operated devices for controlling equipment. Featuring either a button or rotary knob, they use mechanical linkages to open or close contacts, starting or stopping the motor. Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, engaging the starter drive (Bendix gear) which connects with the vehicle's flywheel. The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel as external electrical assistance is no longer required.
