Note: Manual starters don't break control circuits during power loss, which may cause automatic motor restart when power returns.
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, engaging the starter drive (Bendix) and flywheel.
The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark.
