When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or ignition key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, which engages the starter drive (Bendix gear) with the engine's flywheel.

The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel engines. Once the engine is running independently, the starter mechanism disengages automatically from the flywheel.
