Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, which activates the starter drive (Bendix gear system) to engage the vehicle's flywheel.
The starter motor turns to crank the engine, initiating combustion in petrol and diesel engines. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark to maintain operation.
