When the engine is activated, an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid, which transfers power from the battery to the starter motor. This activates the starter drive (Bendix gear), engaging the vehicle's flywheel to crank the engine and initiate combustion.
Once the engine is running, the starter motor disengages from the flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark to maintain operation.
