When the engine is activated (via button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, which engages the flywheel through a gear system (starter drive/Bendix). The motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion. Once running, the mechanism disengages the starter from the flywheel as external power is no longer required.
