When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component channels power from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor, engaging the starter drive (Bendix gear system) with the vehicle's flywheel.
The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine runs independently, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel, as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark for operation.
