When activated (via stop/start button or ignition key), the starter solenoid receives an electrical signal. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, engaging the starter drive (Bendix gear) which connects with the vehicle's flywheel.
The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion. Once the engine runs independently, the mechanism disengages the starter from the flywheel.
