When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, activating both the motor and the starter drive (Bendix gear system). The engaged flywheel cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine is running, the starter motor disengages automatically.
