Manual starters are simple, user-operated devices featuring a button or rotary knob to control connected equipment. When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, activating the starter drive (Bendix gear system) which engages the vehicle's flywheel.
The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine runs independently, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel as external power is no longer required.
