Starter Motor Operation
When activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid, which transfers charge from the battery to the starter motor. This activates the motor and engages the starter drive (Bendix gear system) with the vehicle's flywheel.
The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark.
