Manual starters are devices operated manually, featuring simple operation without requiring expert intervention. They include a button or rotary knob that enables users to turn connected equipment on or off through mechanical linkages.
- Safe and economical operation
- Compact size suitable for various applications
- Overload protection for motor safety
- Multiple enclosure options available
- Low initial cost compared to other starter types
Note: Manual starters don't break control circuits during power loss, which may cause motors to restart automatically when power returns - an important safety consideration for some applications.
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers charge from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor, activating it along with the starter drive (Bendix gear system). The starter motor then engages the vehicle's flywheel, cranking the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark.
