When the engine is activated (via button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor.
The electrical current activates both the starter motor and the Bendix gear system, which engages the vehicle's flywheel. As the starter motor turns, it cranks the engine to begin combustion.
Once the engine is running, the connection between starter motor and flywheel automatically disengages, as the engine no longer requires electrical assistance to maintain operation.
