The external storage HFC 227ea fire extinguishing system stores the HFC 227ea fire suppressant and pressurized nitrogen in separate cylinder groups. Upon activation, the pressurized nitrogen is injected into the fire suppressant cylinder group, rapidly increasing its internal pressure to push the fire suppressant through the piping system and nozzles at high speed for effective discharge and fire suppression.

Because the fire suppressant and nitrogen are stored in different containers, there's no dissolution of nitrogen into the fire suppressant. This avoids the release of nitrogen during transportation, preventing issues such as gas pockets and two-phase flow. Nitrogen propels the liquid HFC 227ea fire suppressant through pipelines as a single-phase fluid, optimizing its flowability and allowing more fire suppressant to be transported through narrower pipes.
