Chemical Composition & Characteristics
444 stainless steel (Chinese standard grade 00Cr18Mo2) contains ultra-low carbon and nitrogen, 18% chromium, 2% molybdenum, and stabilizing elements of niobium or titanium. These components provide superior corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride environments. The addition of niobium or titanium effectively prevents intergranular corrosion issues after welding.
Physical Properties
Density: 7.7 g/cm³ with low thermal expansion coefficient and excellent thermal conductivity. Compared to austenitic stainless steels like SUS304 and SUS316L, 444 stainless steel offers lower thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity, making it ideal for high-temperature and high-pressure applications.
Corrosion Resistance
Provides outstanding resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking and pitting corrosion, particularly suitable for high chloride media environments. Its chloride ion pitting corrosion resistance exceeds SUS304 and matches SUS316L performance.
