2304 Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe Overview
2304 stainless steel (Chinese grade: 00Cr23Ni4N) is a low-alloy duplex stainless steel developed in Sweden. With solution treatment at approximately 1000°C, its microstructure comprises 40%-50% ferrite and 50%-60% austenite, combining the advantages of both phases. This steel type was specifically developed as a high-strength, cost-effective alternative to commonly used 304L and 316L austenitic stainless steels.
Corrosion Resistance Properties
SAF2304 duplex stainless steel features a PRE value of 25, equivalent to 316L stainless steel. Testing reveals superior critical pitting temperature (CPT) values compared to 304L and comparable to 316L in NaCl solutions. The material demonstrates excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, intergranular corrosion, and performs well in various acidic environments including nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and organic acids like formic acid.
