With chromium content between 17.0%-19.0%, 439 stainless steel delivers excellent corrosion resistance in oxidizing environments including water, steam, and gas. It offers superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chloride environments compared to 304 stainless steel, along with exceptional resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking.
High Temperature Performance
Maintains oxidation resistance up to 920°C in intermittent service and 870°C in continuous operation. Note: Extended exposure to 400-500°C range may cause brittleness, correctable through annealing.
Superior Processing Capabilities
Excellent bendability, stretchability, and formability with outstanding welding properties. Very low carbon and nitrogen content combined with titanium stabilization provides exceptional resistance to sensitization and intergranular corrosion.
