Metal detector is a precision equipment that uses electromagnetic induction, X-ray or microwave technology to detect metal impurities in items. It is widely used in food, medicine, chemical, textile and other industries to ensure product quality and safety.
Core Technology Principle
Electromagnetic induction technology
The alternating magnetic field is generated by the transmitting coil. When a metal object enters the detection area, an eddy current effect will be generated, which will interfere with the magnetic field balance and trigger an alarm. This technology is highly sensitive to ferromagnetic metals (such as iron and nickel), but is easily interfered by humid environments or highly conductive products (such as salty foods).
Typical equipment: conveyor-type metal detector, suitable for online detection of packaged finished products.
X-ray technology
Using X-rays to penetrate objects, imaging is performed based on the absorption differences of X-rays by different materials, and can detect tiny metal particles (such as less than 0.1mm) and high-density non-metallic foreign matter (such as glass and stone). The cost is high, but the detection accuracy is not affected by product characteristics.
Typical equipment: X-ray foreign body detector in the food industry, used for high-value or complex packaged products.
Microwave technology
Based on the reflection characteristics of metal to microwave signals, metals are identified by analyzing signal changes. Suitable for liquid or semi-fluid detection, but with lower sensitivity.
