The GREEF NEW ENERGY GDG series is a disc-type permanent magnet generator that operates without an iron core. In this innovative design, the spindle and rotor are arranged in a disc shape, where the stator is fixed in the center and the rotor spins on both sides. Notably, the spindle contains only windings and does not include an iron core.

Both the stator and the rotor take the form of flat disc structures, utilizing axial air gap magnetic flux. They are positioned alternately along the axial direction. Owing to the generator's short axial length and large diameter, it easily supports a multi-pole configuration. This design leads to several advantages such as a high power-to-mass ratio, low speed rating, the ability to start at low wind speeds, compact size, minimal energy consumption, lightweight construction, and high efficiency.

Due to its low aerodynamic resistance when mounted on vertical axis wind turbines, the GDG series is especially well-suited as a direct-drive solution. The rotor's placement on the vertical axis turbine ensures reduced wind resistance, enhancing overall performance.

The GDG series permanent magnet generators come in two main variants: outer rotor and inner rotor types. In the outer rotor type, the rotor casing remains stationary while the shaft rotates, with cable output routed through the center of the shaft. Conversely, the inner rotor type features a stationary casing with the shaft rotating, and cables are discharged outside the casing.
