Measurement Principle
This conductivity sensor operates on the principle that dissolved salts in water exist as ions, which move in specific directions when an electric field is applied. Anions migrate toward the anode, enabling electrical conduction through the aqueous solution.
Conductivity represents the reciprocal of resistivity and serves as a critical indicator for assessing water quality by measuring total dissolved salt content. The degree of electrical conduction varies with electrolyte concentration, allowing analysis of electrolyte solubility.
Temperature significantly affects conductivity measurements. For accurate readings, conductivity is typically standardized to 25°C as specific conductance. Lower conductivity values indicate purer water with fewer dissolved impurities.
Installation Methods
Before installation, unscrew the electrode protective cap and use appropriate mounting brackets or accessories:
- Sidewall Installation: Ensure interface tilt angle exceeds 15 degrees
- Top Flange Installation: Note flange dimensions and electrode insertion depth
- Pipe Installation: Consider pipe diameter, flow velocity, and pressure requirements
- Flow-Through Installation: Monitor flow velocity and pressure conditions
- Submersion Installation: Adjust bracket length as needed for application
