Introduction

The instrument is suitable for measuring the water permeability of textiles using static water pressure. The pressure can reach 20,000 Pa (2,000 mm). The instrument consists of a test column with millimeter markings (for reading the results and water pressure), a control unit with a selection button to control the rate of pressure increase (10 or 60 cmH2O/min), a sound alarm and stop button, a test platform with three 100 cm2 circular test positions, individual control valves for water inflow and a stainless steel container to prevent water from flowing out, etc.

Test principle

A pressure tank is filled with water at the starting position. The sample is introduced to the test position. The water inlet is opened and the test begins at the desired pressure increase rate (10 or 60 cmH2O/min). The test stops when three drops of water penetrate the surface of the sample. Press the stop button and read the millimeter scale of the test column corresponding to the water level in the pressure tank, and this will be the test result (1mm = 10Pa).
