Principle
Under reflux conditions, the sample is mixed with a water-immiscible solvent and heated; water within the sample is distilled off simultaneously. The condensed solvent and water separate continuously in the receiver. The water settles in the graduated tube of the receiver, while the solvent returns to the distillation flask.

Performance Features
The instrument consists primarily of an electrical control unit and testing glassware (distillation flask, condenser, receiver, and drying tube).

Each testing unit is regulated by an independent potentiometer, and a voltmeter displays the heating voltage.
The heating system utilizes a fiberglass-woven heating mantle (flame-free electric heating) with sensitive temperature control.
