Q3: What leads to overheating of the A10VSO45 pump?

Overheating is usually caused by:

 

  1. Mechanical friction: Increased friction between moving parts such as bearings, pistons, and the cylinder block (often due to wear, lack of lubrication, or misalignment).
  2. Fluid friction: Excessive resistance in the oil flow path (e.g., narrow hoses, blocked valves) or turbulent flow inside the pump.
  3. Excessive system pressure: A clogged oil filter can cause a pressure buildup in the system, forcing the pump to work under overload and generating excess heat.

Q4: Why does the pump still discharge oil when in the neutral position (zero-displacement setting)?

This issue is commonly caused by:

 

  • Malfunction of the displacement controller: The controller may be misaligned, loose, or damaged. In this case, re-calibrate the controller to the neutral position, tighten loose components, or replace the faulty controller.
  • Reduced angle retention force or wear: Insufficient force to keep the swashplate at zero tilt, or excessive wear on the swashplate’s trunnion (pivot point), causing the swashplate to maintain a small tilt angle even in neutral.
