Carburizer is a black or grey particle (or block) coke or petroleum coke follow-up product with high carbon content, which reduces oxygen content in molten iron and improves mechanical properties of castings during metal smelting.
Based on crystal structure, carburetors are divided into amorphous and crystalline states. Graphitized carburetors include graphitized petroleum coke and graphite electrodes. Graphitized petroleum coke carbon extender is widely used in casting industry, produced by heating raw petroleum coke at 2200-2600°C to transform amorphous carbon crystal into three-dimensional ordered graphite crystal.
