Electrolytic metal manganese refers to the elemental metal produced by using an electrolytic cell to electrolyse manganese salt precipitated by acid leaching of manganese ore. These firm and brittle flakes have an irregular shape with one bright silver-white side and one rough brown side. The purity of electrolytic manganese is exceptionally high, containing 99.7% manganese.
Electrolytic manganese's high purity makes it ideal for increasing the hardness of metal materials. It is most widely used in manganese copper alloys, manganese aluminum alloys, and 200 series stainless steel, where it significantly improves the alloy's strength, toughness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance.
