An oil cooler tube is a high-pressure, high-temperature fluid conduit that connects the main oil passage of the engine to the oil cooler (or an integrated heat exchanger with the radiator). It is responsible for directing hot oil at temperatures of 120-150°C to the cooler, where it is cooled by 15-25°C before being pumped back into the main oil passage. This process prevents the oil from degrading due to high temperatures and ensures that the turbo bearings do not overheat and fuse.
Oil Cooler Tube functions and roles:
- Cooling: Reducing the oil temperature from 130°C to around 105°C, extending the oil life by 30%.
- Stabilizing pressure: Pipeline flow resistance < 0.3 bar, ensuring stable main oil passage pressure of 4-6 bar.
- Vibration isolation: The rubber section absorbs 20G level engine vibrations, preventing fatigue at the aluminum cooler weld seams.
- Quick disassembly: Some designs feature a 'snap-fit-quick connector', allowing maintenance disassembly in 4 seconds without leakage.
Oil Cooler Tube installation:
- The bending radius should be at least five times the outer diameter of the tube to prevent oil blockage when bending the aluminum tube.
- After hearing the 'click' sound twice from the quick connector, pull back to confirm there is no movement of 2 mm.
