• Settling impurities: Microscopic metal shavings and other impurities in the oil may settle here, helping to keep the oil clean.
• Observing oil condition: Most reservoirs are transparent or semi-transparent (usually marked with 'Power Steering') and equipped with an oil dipstick or 'Min/Max' markings, making it convenient to check the oil level and color daily.
