Common Faults
1. Motor fails to operate entirely
- Power supply failure: Vehicle circuit fuse blown, relay contact burnout, or loose/oxidised wiring connections preventing current input to the motor. On certain models, the headlight washer function requires preconditions such as ‘headlights switched on’ and ‘vehicle speed below set threshold’; failure to meet these conditions may be misinterpreted as a motor fault.
- Motor damage: Internal carbon brushes worn down, armature winding open circuit or short circuit, or rotor seized, preventing normal start-up.
2. Insufficient spray pressure or low flow rate
- Blocked or leaking lines: Spray nozzles clogged with silt or insect residue, or connecting pipes aged, cracked, or disconnected, causing washer fluid leakage and pressure loss.
- Low detergent tank level: Insufficient liquid in the tank causes the motor to draw air, preventing stable pressure formation.
- Motor performance degradation: Worn motor bearings or aged internal seals result in reduced pump pressure and inadequate output flow.
