What is Genistein?

Genistein is primarily found in the Leguminosae family, with significant concentrations found in Sophora japonica and Sophora flavescens. Genistein, also known as genistein, occurs as rectangular or hexagonal rod-shaped crystals (in 60% ethanol) or dendritic crystals , with a melting point of 297-298°C (slight decomposition). It is soluble in DMSO and ethanol but virtually insoluble in water, with a solubility of 8.7 μg/mL. Changing the pH of the solution has no significant effect on genistein.
