Programming and Integration
The NI-6581B module integrates a user-programmable FPGA for local processing and adaptable I/O tasks. It can be programmed using the LabVIEW FPGA module or VHDL, enabling implementation of custom functions such as device comparison, waveform generation/analysis, and other device-based computations.
The LabVIEW FPGA module extends LabVIEW's graphical development environment to target FPGAs in NI reconfigurable I/O (RIO) devices. Its intuitive parallel dataflow representation makes it particularly suitable for FPGA programming without requiring low-level hardware description languages.
Connectivity
The module features two VHDCI connectors, each with 24 general-purpose I/O lines, three PFI lines, one check-out line, and one check-in line. It can interface with terminal blocks such as NI SMB-2163 for SMB connections or NI CB-2162 for screw terminals using the NI SHC68-C68-D4 shielded cable. The pinout is compatible with other NI high-speed instruments.
