Core Principles
Secure machine support, cross-tightening in sequence, use of new Class 12.9 bolts + thread locker, re-tightening to standard torque, and test inspection after installation.
1. Preparations (Safety First)
Secure Positioning
Park the excavator on firm, level ground; fully extend and stabilize the outriggers, shut off the engine, disconnect power, and lock the travel control levers. Jack up one side of the track and support it securely with safety stands or wooden blocks. Release grease from the track tension cylinder to slacken the track and disengage it from the drive sprocket, creating sufficient working space.
Tools & Materials
Class 12.9 high-strength bolts (brand new in the same specification; reuse of old bolts is strictly prohibited), medium-to-high strength thread locker (242/271), torque wrench, pneumatic impact wrench, tap, cleaner, wire brush, pry bar, brass hammer.
Inspection
Clean the travel motor flange and ring gear mounting surface to remove oil, rust, and burrs. Use a tap to restore damaged threaded holes to ensure they are free of defects and contaminants.
