Encoder and Mechanical Design

The M2 encoder is an optical multiturn absolute feedback system using the EnDat 2.1 interface and 2,048 signal periods. It is suitable for machines that require absolute position information across multiple motor revolutions. The drive, firmware, motor parameter file and encoder cable must support M2 feedback.

The plain shaft is intended for a suitable clamping or friction-locking coupling. It should not be substituted directly for a keyed-shaft motor without checking the existing coupling. Brake code 0 confirms that no holding brake is installed.

The RNNN suffix means increased concentricity. It does not by itself indicate ATEX construction. Increased concentricity can be important for precision couplings, direct-drive mechanisms, printing rollers, measuring systems and machine axes sensitive to shaft runout.
