Preparation Methods
1. Brine-Lime Method
Purified brine and lime milk are precipitated in a sedimentation tank. After adding flocculant, the slurry undergoes separation, filtration, washing, drying, and crushing to obtain finished magnesium oxide.
Features: Simple process with readily available raw materials, suitable for large-scale production.
2. Brine-Ammonia Method
Purified brine reacts with ammonia in a reactor with controlled temperature and ratio. After precipitation, flocculant addition, filtration, washing, drying, and crushing produces the final product.
Features: Enables preparation of MgO with varying purity and particle sizes through controlled conditions.
3. Magnesium-Hydrochloric Acid-Ammonia Method
Magnesium ore calcination produces magnesium oxide, which reacts with hydrochloric acid to form magnesium chloride solution. Subsequent reaction with ammonia yields magnesium hydroxide precipitate, processed into final product.
Features: Versatile process allowing adjustment of purity and particle size through reaction control.
4. Magnesium Carbonate Calcination Method
Basic magnesium carbonate obtained from magnesia ore undergoes thermal decomposition, calcination, and crushing to produce light magnesium oxide.
Features: Produces lightweight, highly active magnesium oxide through controlled calcination.
Key Production Considerations
- Raw material selection based on production requirements
- Precise control of reaction temperature, pressure, and time
- Proper equipment selection and maintenance
- Environmental protection and energy efficiency measures
Material Properties
Magnesium oxide consists of Mg²⁺ and O²⁻ ions forming a stable ionic crystal lattice. Its exceptional high-temperature stability makes it ideal for studying crystal vibration characteristics and serves as an effective metal stabilizer.
Packaging & Storage
Stored in cool, ventilated warehouses away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Packaging complies with HG/T 2573-2012 standards to prevent leakage and damage during transportation.
Safety Measures
- Industrial Protection: Operators must wear dust masks, safety goggles, protective clothing, and rubber gloves
- Medical Monitoring: Follow prescribed usage guidelines for medical applications
- Environmental Monitoring: Implement emergency response plans for potential leaks
