1.1 Actuator fails to move when valve is energized

Troubleshoot in the following priority order:

  • Electrical System Check: Measure supply voltage at the valve connector (should be 21.6-26.4V DC)
  • Test solenoid resistance with a multimeter (normal range: 25-45 Ω). A reading of 0 Ω (short circuit) or ∞ Ω (open circuit) indicates a failed solenoid.
  • Inspect for loose wiring, damaged insulation, or corroded terminals.
  • Hydraulic System Check: Verify P port pressure (should match system supply pressure, typically 100-315 bar)
  • Check if isolation valves are fully open and pipelines are unobstructed
  • Inspect for airlocks in the system (bleed air from actuator and valve)
  • Valve Internal Check: Disassemble to check for spool sticking (caused by contamination or bent spool)
  • Inspect pressure compensator for stuck valve or broken spring
  • Check for swollen seals blocking oil passages (caused by incompatible fluid)
1.2 Actuator movement is unstable or erratic
