3000 Grade Alloy 3004 Aluminium Alloy Coil for Packaging
3004 aluminum alloy is a medium-strength, non-heat-treatable alloy primarily composed of
manganese and magnesium. It offers better strength than pure aluminum while maintaining
excellent formability, weldability, and corrosion resistance.
Key Properties
- Moderate Strength: Tensile strength: 130-285 MPa (depending on temper, with H18 full-hard state offering the highest strength). Strength can be significantly improved through cold working, but it cannot be heat-treated for strengthening.
- Excellent Formability: High ductility, suitable for deep drawing, stretching, and other forming processes such as beverage can bodies.
- Outstanding Corrosion Resistance: Resists atmospheric, water, and chemical corrosion, particularly in humid and saline environments due to manganese and magnesium content.
- Good Weldability: Compatible with conventional welding methods (MIG/TIG), making it ideal for sealed packaging containers.
- Lightweight: Low density (~2.7 g/cm³), lighter than steel, reducing transportation costs.

Packaging Industry Applications
3004 aluminum alloy is widely used in packaging due to its corrosion resistance, formability, and food safety compliance.
Beverage and Food Can Bodies
Used for beverage can bodies (beer, soda cans) and food cans for meat, vegetables, etc. 3004 sheets are deep-drawn into cylindrical can bodies, replacing 3003 alloy with higher strength due to magnesium content. Surfaces can be coated or printed for branding.
Bottle Caps and Seals
Stamped into screw caps, crown caps, and aerosol can lids with excellent sealing properties for water bottles, wine caps, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
Other Packaging Containers
Used in aluminum foil laminates combined with plastic films for snack bags and pharmaceutical blister packs, as well as lightweight, recyclable trays and containers for takeout food boxes and industrial packaging.
