Application Guidelines Summary

  • Circuit Design: Consider effects of operating temperature and frequency on electrical parameters. Avoid reverse voltage, over voltage, excessive ripple current, and pulse current exceeding specified limits. Use appropriate wiring methods for parallel or series capacitor configurations.
  • Capacitor Mounting: Ensure proper clearance for pressure relief vents, avoid short circuits due to solder, and match circuit board hole spacing to capacitor lead spacing.
  • Electrical Isolation: Ensure complete electrical isolation of the capacitor terminals and case as required.
  • Capacitor Handling: Verify capacitance and voltage ratings, correct polarity, and hole spacing before insertion. Avoid mechanical stress on leads. Observe temperature and time specifications for soldering. Avoid immersing capacitor body in solder bath.
  • Circuit Board Cleaning: Use suitable cleaning solvents, rinse thoroughly, and dry. Avoid specific solvent groups that can damage the capacitor.
  • Precautions for Use: Avoid extreme temperatures, direct contact with water/oil, high humidity, toxic gases, ozone, radiation, or excessive vibration/shock. Avoid touching terminals and short-circuiting terminals.
  • Emergency Procedures: In case of vent operation, immediately turn off equipment. Avoid contact with escaping electrolyte gas. Follow first aid procedures for eye/skin contact or ingestion.
  • Long Term Storage: Leakage current may increase. Recondition capacitors stored for over one year by applying rated voltage through a current-limiting resistor.
  • Capacitor Disposal: Incinerate after crushing or puncturing, or dispose of as solid waste, following local laws.
