Application Guidelines
Circuit Design Considerations:
- Operating temperature and frequency affect electrical parameters; consider variations in leakage current, capacitance, and ESR.
- Avoid reverse voltage, charge/discharge applications, over voltage, and exceeding maximum ripple current.
- For series or parallel connections, ensure voltage and current balancing.
Capacitor Mounting Considerations:
- Ensure adequate clearance for pressure relief vents.
- Avoid high voltage/current wiring near pressure relief vents.
- Ensure proper circuit board hole spacing and avoid runs under the capacitor.
Capacitor Handling Techniques:
- Verify capacitance, rated voltage, and polarity before insertion.
- Avoid mechanical shock or damage.
- Observe soldering temperature and time specifications.
- Use appropriate cleaning solvents and drying methods.
Precautions for Use:
- Do not store or use outside rated temperature ranges or in direct contact with water, salt water, oil, or toxic gases.
- Avoid electrical shock by not touching terminals or short-circuiting them.
Emergency Procedures:
- In case of pressure relief vent operation, immediately turn off equipment and disconnect from power.
- Avoid contact with escaping electrolyte gas/liquid. Follow first aid procedures if contact occurs.
Long Term Storage:
- Leakage current may increase after long storage. Recondition capacitors by applying rated voltage through a 1000 resistor for 30 minutes if stored for over one year.
Capacitor Disposal:
- Incinerate after crushing or puncturing the can, or dispose of as solid waste, following local regulations.
