Capacitance Measurement
- Measuring Frequency: 120Hz 12Hz
- Measuring Voltage: Not more than 0.5Vrms
- Measuring Temperature: 20 2
- Criteria: Shall be within the specified capacitance tolerance.
Leakage Current Measurement
- Condition: Capacitor connected with a protective resistor (1k 10) in series for 5 minutes, then measure Leakage Current.
- Criteria: Refer to Table 1.
tan Measurement
- Condition: See 4.2 for measuring frequency, voltage, and temperature.
- Criteria: Refer to Table 1.
Terminal Strength Test
- Condition: Static load of 25N (2.5kgf) applied to lead wire terminal in axial direction away from capacitor body for 30s.
- Criteria: No intermittent contacts, open or short circuit; no mechanical damage.
Temperature Characteristics Test
- Steps: Testing at 202, -40(-25)3, 1052, and returning to 202, with time to reach thermal equilibrium at each step.
- Criteria: tan within limit of Item 4.4; leakage current not more than 8 times specified value (at low temperatures) or specified value (at room temperature). Impedance (Z) ratio at -40/-25 compared to +20 specified.
Load Life Test
- Condition: According to IEC60384-4 No.4.13. Stored at 105C 2 with DC bias voltage plus rated ripple current for specified duration. Tested after 16 hours recovery.
- Criteria: Leakage current satisfied (4.3); Capacitance change within 20% of initial value; tan not more than 200% of specified value; no electrolyte leakage.
Shelf Life Test
- Condition: Stored at 105 2 for 1000+48/0 hours with no voltage. Stabilized at room temperature for 4~8 hours. Rated DC voltage applied through 1k 100 resistor for 30min. Tested after discharge.
- Criteria: Leakage current satisfied (4.3); Capacitance change within 15% of initial value; tan not more than 150% of specified value; no electrolyte leakage.
Surge Test
- Condition: Surge voltage applied with a (100 050)/CR (k) resistor. 1000 cycles of 30 5s charge, 5 min 30S discharge. Test temperature 15~35.
- Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified value; Capacitance change within 15% of initial value; tan not more than specified value; no electrolyte leakage.
Vibration Test
- Condition: 10Hz ~ 55Hz frequency range, 1.5mm peak to peak amplitude, sweep rate 10Hz ~ 55Hz ~ 10Hz per minute, for 2 hours in 3 mutually perpendicular directions. Capacitor must be fixed with a bracket.
- Criteria: No mechanical damage, no electrolyte leakage or swelling, legible markings. No intermittent contact, open or short circuit.
Solderability Test
- Condition: Sn-Cu solder, 2503 soldering temperature, 2mm dipping depth, 252.5mm/s dipping speed, 30.5s dipping time.
- Criteria: Minimum 95% of the surface immersed.
Resistance to Solder Heat Test
- Condition: Terminals immersed into solder bath at 2605 for 101 seconds or 40010 for 3+0/-1 seconds, 1.5~2.0mm from capacitor body. Left at normal temperature and humidity for 1~2 hours before measurement.
- Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified value; Capacitance change within 10% of initial value; tan not more than specified value; no electrolyte leakage.
Change of Temperature Test
- Condition: Temperature cycle according to IEC60384-4 No.4.7. Steps: (1)+20 (3 min), (2)Rated low temperature (-40 or -25) (302 min), (3)Rated high temperature (+105) (302 min). Total 5 cycles.
- Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified value; tan not more than specified value; no electrolyte leakage.
Damp Heat Test
- Condition: According to IEC60384-4 No.4.12. Exposed for 5008 hours in 90~95% RH at 402.
- Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified value; Capacitance change within 20% of initial value; tan not more than 120% of specified value; no electrolyte leakage.
Vent Test
- Condition: DC test with polarity reversed. Current applied from Table 3 (Diameter 22.4mm: 1A; Diameter > 22.4mm: 10A). Applies to products with vents.
- Criteria: Vent operates with no dangerous conditions (flames, dispersion of pieces).
Maximum Permissible Ripple Current
- Condition: Maximum AC current at 120Hz and maximum operating temperature. Combined DC and peak AC voltage shall not exceed rated voltage and shall not reverse voltage. Frequency multipliers provided for different frequencies and voltages.
