Application Guidelines

  • Prohibited Circuits: Time constant, coupling, high impedance voltage retention, and circuits greatly affected by leakage current.
  • Voltage: Applied voltage (including ripple peak) must not exceed rated voltage. Negative ripple peak should not exceed 10% of rated voltage. Use within 20% of rated voltage for applications with potential reverse voltage during transient phenomena.
  • Sudden Charge/Discharge: Protection circuits recommended if rush current exceeds 10A or 10 times allowable ripple current. A 1k protection resistor is required for leakage current measurement during charge/discharge.
  • Ripple Current: Operate within stipulated limits to prevent self-heating, increased leakage current, and short circuits.
  • Leakage Current: Self-correction mechanism exists; leakage current may decrease after voltage application.
  • Failure Rate: Primary failure mode is open mode (wear-out) at high temperatures; random short circuits due to overvoltage are minor.
  • Capacitor Insulation: Marking sleeve insulation is not guaranteed. The space between the case and negative terminal is not insulated. Ensure complete separation of case, negative lead, positive lead, and PCB patterns.
  • Usage Environments to Avoid: Direct contact with salt water/oil, direct sunlight, high temperature, high humidity with condensation, chemically active gases, acid/alkaline environments, high-frequency induction, excessive vibration/shock.

Mounting Precautions

  • Before Mounting: Do not reuse X-CON capacitors. Apply rated voltage with a 1k resistor for 1 hour at 60-70C for capacitors with increased LC after long storage. Do not reuse dropped capacitors. Ensure correct polarity, capacitance, and rated voltage. Match lead terminal pitch to PCB. Ensure no stress on lead terminals or body during mounting.
  • Mounting: Follow SPEC for soldering temperature and duration. Do not let soldering iron tip touch the capacitor. Do not submerge capacitor body in solder during flow soldering. Rosin should only adhere to lead terminals.
  • After Mounting: Do not tilt, bend, or twist capacitors. Prevent other matter from touching the capacitor. For PCB washing, use approved cleaning agents, immersion or ultrasonic for
