Product Description

Product Overview

The SAMXON SK Series Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are polar, foil-type capacitors designed for use in electronic equipment. Meeting IEC60384 standards, these capacitors offer reliable performance with a wide operating temperature range of -40C to 105C. They are constructed with a tinned CP wire lead line, aluminum wire terminals, a rubber seal, aluminum foil (anode and cathode), an aluminum case, and a PET sleeve. The SK series is suitable for various electronic applications requiring stable capacitance, low leakage current, and defined impedance characteristics.

  • Operating Temperature Range: Refer to Table 1 for temperature range.
  • Rated Voltage (WV) & Surge Voltage (SV): Available ratings include 6.3V to 100V DC (WV) with corresponding surge voltages.
  • Nominal Capacitance Tolerance: Measured at 120Hz12Hz, 0.5Vrms, 202C.
  • Leakage Current: Measured after connecting with a 1K 10 resistor in series for 2 minutes. Refer to Table 1 for values.
  • tan: Measured under conditions specified in 4.2. Refer to Table 1 for values.
  • Impedance: Measured at 100kHz, 202C, 2mm max. from sealing rubber. Refer to Table 1 for values.
  • Terminal Strength: Specified tensile and bending forces for lead wires.
  • Temperature Characteristics: Tested across various temperatures (-40C to 105C) to ensure tan and leakage current remain within limits. Impedance ratio at -25C vs +20C is specified.
  • Load Life Test: Performed at 105C 2C with DC bias and ripple current. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (within 25% or 30% for lower voltages), tan ( 200% of specified value), and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Shelf Life Test: Stored at 1052C for 1000+48/0 hours. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (within 25% or 30% for lower voltages), tan ( 200% of specified value), and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Surge Test: 1000 cycles of charge (305s) and discharge (5 min 30s) with surge voltage. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (within 15% of initial value), tan, and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Vibration Test: Applied for 2 hours in 3 mutually perpendicular directions (10Hz ~ 55Hz, 1.5mm amplitude). Criteria include no intermittent contacts, open/short circuits, damage to terminals or electrodes, mechanical damage, electrolyte leakage, or swelling. Markings must be legible.
  • Solderability Test: Soldering temperature 2453C, dipping depth 2mm, dipping speed 252.5mm/s, dipping time 30.5s. Minimum 95% of immersed surface coating quality.
  • Resistance to Solder Heat Test: Immersion in solder bath at 2605C for 101 seconds or 40010C for 3+0/-1 seconds. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (within 10% of initial value), tan, and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Change of Temperature Test: 5 cycles of temperature changes (-40C to +105C). Criteria include leakage current, tan, and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Damp Heat Test: 5008 hours at 90~95% RH and 402C. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (within 20% of initial value), tan ( 120% of specified value), and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Vent Test: For products with vents ( 6.3mm). Applied with reversed DC polarity and specified DC current. Vent operation should occur without dangerous conditions.
  • Maximum Permissible Ripple Current: Maximum AC current at 100kHz and maximum operating temperature. Frequency multipliers provided for different capacitance values and frequencies.

Environmental Considerations

  • Controlled Substances: List of controlled substances is provided, referring to the latest document "Environment-related Substances standard" (WI-HSPM-QA-072).
  • Application Guidelines: Includes considerations for circuit design (operating temperature, frequency, common application conditions to avoid like reverse voltage, over voltage, ripple current), using multiple capacitors in series/parallel, capacitor mounting, electrical isolation, and product endurance.
  • Capacitor Handling Techniques: Covers considerations before use (finite life, transient recovery voltage, leakage current increase with storage, damage from dropping/denting), insertion (polarity, hole spacing), manual and flow soldering, post-solder handling, circuit board cleaning (acceptable solvents, drying, contamination monitoring), mounting adhesives/coatings.
  • Precautions for Using Capacitors: Environmental conditions to avoid (temperature extremes, water, high humidity, toxic gases, radiation, vibration/shock) and electrical precautions (avoid touching terminals, avoid short circuits).
  • Emergency Procedures: Actions to take if the pressure relief vent operates (turn off equipment, avoid contact with escaping electrolyte/gas, first aid).
  • Long Term Storage: Leakage current increases with storage time; reconditioning may be required. Capacitors over eighteen months expired should be returned for confirmation.
  • Capacitor Disposal: Recommended methods include incineration after crushing/puncturing or disposal as solid waste, following local laws.
