Attachment: Application Guidelines
- Circuit Design: Considerations for operating temperature, frequency, common application conditions to avoid (reverse voltage, charge/discharge, over voltage, ripple current), using multiple capacitors in series/parallel, and capacitor mounting considerations (clearances for vents, wiring near vents, circuit board patterns, screw terminals).
- Capacitor Handling Techniques: Considerations before using (finite life, transient recovery voltage, leakage current increase with storage, impact of dropping/denting), insertion (polarity, hole spacing, auto insertion), manual soldering, flow soldering, other soldering considerations, handling after solder, circuit board cleaning (acceptable solvents, drying, contamination monitoring), mounting adhesives and coating agents.
- Precautions for using capacitors: Environmental conditions (temperature, water, humidity, toxic gases, radiation, vibration/shock) and electrical precautions (avoid touching terminals, avoid short circuits).
- Emergency Procedures: Actions to take if the pressure relief vent operates (turn off equipment, avoid contact with electrolyte/gas, first aid).
- Long Term Storage: Reconditioning required after storage (applying rated voltage with a current limiting resistor).
- Capacitor Disposal: Recommended methods (incineration after crushing/puncturing, disposal as solid waste), noting local laws may apply.
