Important Usage Notes

When using aluminum electrolytic capacitors, please pay strict attention to the following:

  1. Polarization: Electrolytic capacitors for DC application require polarization. Confirm polarity to avoid damage or shortened life. Bi-polarized capacitors (BP- series) are recommended for circuits with occasional or unknown polarity. Not suitable for AC applications.
  2. Voltage Rating: Do not apply voltage exceeding the capacitor's rating. When using AC voltage superimposed on DC, ensure the peak value does not exceed the rated voltage.
  3. Ripple Current: Use within permissible ripple current range. Request high ripple current capacitors if exceeding specified values.
  4. Operating Temperature: Adhere to the specified operating temperature range for optimal life.
  5. Charge/Discharge: Not suitable for circuits with frequent charge and discharge cycles. Consult engineering for assistance in such applications.
  6. Voltage Treatment: Apply voltage treatment to capacitors stored for extended periods to restore withstand voltage and prevent increased leakage current. (No treatment required if stored less than 2-3 years at normal temperature).
  7. Soldering: Be careful of temperature and time during soldering. For small-sized capacitors, avoid exceeding 260 for more than 10 seconds.
  8. Soldering Iron Contact: Do not place a soldering iron on the capacitor body to prevent damage to the sleeve and insulation.
  9. Cleaning: Avoid halogenated hydrocarbon cleaning and defluxing solvents. Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) or Water cleaning methods are recommended (max 5 minutes). Do not use AK225AES.
  10. Force on Leads: Do not apply excessive force to lead wires or terminals to prevent breakage or connection issues.
  11. Storage Area: Select storage areas carefully, avoiding high temperatures and humidity, which can affect life and solderability.
  12. Surge Voltage: Surge voltage rating is for short periods not exceeding 30 seconds at infrequent intervals. Refer to KS C IEC 60384-4 for detailed testing.
