Performance Characteristics
| Characteristic | Specification | Test Method |
| Temperature Coefficient (T.C.R.) | For R 1: 100PPM/. For R | Calculated based on resistance change over temperature. |
| Load Life | Resistance change (2%R+0.05) MAX. No mechanical damage. | 1000 hours at 702, with rated voltage or max continuous working voltage (whichever is less), duty cycle 1.5hrs ON, 0.5hrs OFF. |
| Short Time Overload | Resistance change (0.5%R+0.05). | 2.5 times the rated voltage or maximum overload voltage (whichever is less), for 5 seconds. |
| Insulation Resistance | 1000M or more. | Measured with resistor in V-block. |
| Electric Withstanding Voltage | Resistance change (0.5%R+0.05). No flashover, mechanical damage, arcing, or insulation breakdown. | Applied for 60 seconds as per characteristic table voltage. |
| Temperature Cycling | Resistance change (0.5%R+0.05) MAX. No mechanical damage. | 5 cycles of -253 (30 min), Room temp (10-15 min), 852 (30 min), Room temp (10-15 min). |
| Resistance to Soldering Heat | Resistance change (0.5%R+0.05). No mechanical damage. | Immersion in tin bath at 35010 for 30.5 sec, or 2605 for 101 sec. |
| Solder Ability | 95% coverage minimum on lead wire. | Tin bath temperature: 2605, Dwell time: 30.5 sec. |
| Joint Intensity | No terminal wire loosening or breakage. | Clamped at solder point and flipped 90 outwards, twice. |
Construction
- Tinned copper lead wire
- High heat exchanged ceramic base
- Tin-plated steel caps
- High stability electric conduction film
- Color ring mark
- Epoxy resin coating
Note: Standard coating is blue epoxy resin paint. Special non-flammable grey or brick red coating is available. For 5W products, non-flammable coating is recommended due to higher surface temperature.
Precautions for Use
- For high resistance values (hundreds of K ohm), the film layer is very thin, potentially reducing reliability, especially in high humidity environments. Ultra-high resistance values are not recommended for high-reliability designs.
- For ultra-high resistance values, consider MG High Voltage Surge Resistors or CHIP Resistors.
- For low resistance and ultra-low resistance applications where temperature coefficient or current capability is critical, consider KN Wire Wound Resistors.
- Precision metal film resistors have a thinner film layer compared to other thin film resistors, making them less resistant to pulses. Avoid using high resistance products in high pulse or continuous pulse circuits.
- The conductive composition is prone to oxidation at high temperatures. Pay attention to surface temperature rise and surrounding heat dissipation for high-power products. Do not use adhesives for fixing or potting, as they can hinder heat dissipation and may cause electrochemical reactions leading to failure.
